Hey everyone,
It has been a stellar week and I'm learning and growing a ton! I love love love this gospel! We hit 34 lessons this week! A whole lot more than the 5 we had a month ago! Bubba and his son have a baptismal date, we taught Sarah the law of chastity which went well! Everything is beginning to pick up and we are doing a ton of work with the members!! I'm really excited for this ward! Within the next few transfers Bunnell North will have at least 4-5 baptisms! I will probably be gone but I have worked with them all and have been prepping them so the next few missionaries can get them dunked! My new goal is to come in each night exhausted because I gave all my might, mind, and strength that I had, and changed as many lives as possible.
So this week I am going to do something a little different! I picked just a few things that happened today that for some reason I feel that someone at home can use in their life, or maybe will just give them a smile! So instead of a huge email about my week here are a FEW highlights! First one I wanted to share happened on Tuesday on my exchange with Elder Creer! That whole day was so awesome! That night we saw the Basketball Boy and we stopped to talk and shoot some hoops with them! We just talked with them while we threw up some practice shots and got to know them a little better as well as prepared to throw down! A few other boys came and we threw down the gauntlet, Boom! Beat cha Teach ya!!! They accepted and we began to playing, tie, slacks, name tag and all! We started out really well! We were quickly up on them 16-4, leaving them with their jaws drooping as low as their pants! (Not at that particular moment cause you know it was an intense game!) Then Elder Creer dropped his name tag and I think it was a curse because before we knew it, it was 18-18 and we had like 5 mins to finish that game, teach them, and get over to the next lesson! There were several shots taken by both sides but nothing was falling and time was ticking so I totally said a little prayer asking Heavenly Father to help me drain a three! We got the ball! I pulled off some step back move I have never done before, shot a 3 from way down town and swish! We win! They were all super surprised! They kept their word and we had a super sweet lesson about the Book of Mormon and passed out several more Book of Mormons to those Boys! I learned several things this week concerning Prayer! First there is nothing too small to pray about! Our father in heaven wants to hear EVERYTHING! We need to have a daily reporting session telling our father our desires, our faults, weaknesses, and pains! He wants to know what went well and what we thought about it! This event taught me that if we have a righteous desire and have the faith in Heavenly Father, he will grant it to us! We will be able to do things we have never done before! Never lose the faith!
The second experience I almost don't want to share because I am a little disappointed in myself! So learn from my mistakes! So there is this man named Stephen who is completely deaf and is an orphan! He is probably in his 30s and lives on his own! He texts us probably 25 texts a day! And they are very hard to decipher! Anyway we got a text early in the week about how he had some sort of health issue and he wanted a blessing, we were busy and we kinda pushed that off by texting the elders quorum president and told him to send Stephen's home teachers! Well we keep getting the texts and figured they would take care of him! Well I guess it didn't happen and we went to a lesson with the elders quorum president and after he asked us about it! We were going to go give him a blessing and I felt like I should but we were passed curfew so we said we do it tomorrow! That next day was a crazy day and by the time we thought to text him it was late afternoon! He texted back and said he was in the ER! He was alright and taken care of and released that night! Well right after that text we decided to start repenting and we went over to Stephen Libby's home that night to give him a blessing! I was able to give the blessing and elder Honda mouthed the words so he could read his lips! It was a super amazing experience for me! The spirit was so strong!!! And although he couldn't really thank me I just knew how much he appreciated it! It all worked out but I look back at it and wonder what might have happened if I followed my first promoting to go see him and give him a blessing! I know that the power of the priesthood could have helped him with whatever health issue he had! It is the same power our Savior used to raise the dead! It could have reduced this man's pain! I learned to not procrastinate a righteous act! That doesn't come from God! If we procrastinate even for a little it may be too late and miss our chance! If you get a prompting, act on it! It's that simple! You may miss your chance to change a life!
The last story was from Saturday night! Elder Honda had an impression to go see Bill, (who is a former investigator who was almost baptized twice,) but elder Honda almost changed his mind! I told him that if he was prompted to go see him, we needed to go see him! We stopped by and he opened the door and let us in! Which doesn't happen very often! Elder Honda was very direct and very bold! Bill told us he was comfortable and liked his old church better and that was that! Elder Honda explained that it didn't matter what we wanted but it matters what God wants us to do! We retaught the restoration and the importance of the Book of Mormon and basically told him that he needed to pray about it to know if this is God's church! I was able to testify to him the power of the Book of Mormon and how it would change his life! As I spoke the spirit filled the room and it was so incredibly cool! He totally changed! His whole countenance was different and he said he would read and pray and that we could come back tomorrow! It was crazy to see the spirit work on him so quickly to change his heart! Miracles are there ready for the taking of we have the faith to ask for them! Lives are ready to be changed if we are only ready to act! The are people who are ready for this gospel if we are only ready to love them enough and share it!
That is my challenge to you this week and every week following, Pray with all your heart! Our prayers all need to improve! Have Faith that miracles can and will happen! Act on our spiritual promptings! Never procrastinate a righteous act of love or service! Remember that nobody is too far from saving! If we testify and minister in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ we will rescue and save souls! These are just a few things I learned this week! I see miracles everyday! I love being a missionary!!! I love this gospel! I love my Savior!!!
Your spiritually pumped and edified missionary,
Elder Tracy
